LAKE GENEVA — For nearly half a century, Venetian Festival has been the banner event for the Lake Geneva Jaycees Chapter. The five-day even features a carnival, craft fair, water ski show, musical entertainment, fireman’s water fight, local cuisine, and the festival’s traditional lighted boat parade followed by a fireworks display high above Geneva Lake. The event draws people from all over the area, attracting more than 50,000 people to Lake Geneva.
The craft fair is Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20 and 21 in Library Park, on the lakefront. Admission is free. Saturday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Live bands perform in the Jaycees Beer Tent (you must be 21 to enter). The tent is open 5 p.m. to midnight Wednesday through Friday and noon to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

•Wednesday, Aug. 17, 8 p.m. to midnight, Big Al Wetzel & Bushwood Allstars • Thursday, Aug. 18, 8 p.m. to midnight, Petty Thieves • Friday, Aug. 19, 8 p.m. to midnight, The Toys • Saturday, Aug. 20, noon to 3 p.m., SLM Jam Band plus a Baggo Tournament held from noon to 3 p.m. Dot Dot Dot performs from 8 p.m. to midnight. • Sunday, Aug. 21, noon to 3 p.m., Tom Brusky Variety Polka Band — Chasing Amy performs from 8 p.m. to midnight. The boat parade is Sunday, Aug. 21, on Geneva Lake right in front of Library Park and the Riviera. The parade starts right at dusk with a fireworks display after that. This year’s theme is Pirates of the Caribbean.
